I've been a fan of The Band ever since seeing the boys minus Levon (Mickey Jones subbing for Levon on drums) backing Bob Dylan at Sydney Stadium in 1966. Cahoots has always been on of my favourite Band albums and this new edition with it's bonus additions is even better.

Like many hard core fans, I like to dig a little deeper into work of artists I love and admire and so it is with The Band's overlooked, underappreciated fourth LP, Cahoots. The current reissue doesn't differ all that much from either the original or first reissue of 20 years ago, but has enough extras and outtakes to satisfy. And the little changes that producer Bob Clearmountain and Robbie Robertson bring out from the original mix enhance the listening experience. Best of all, the liner notes serve to illuminate the history of how the album was made and the challenges for The Band at that time. Anecdotes about the contributions of Bob Dylan and Van Morrison as well as the members of The Band itself, humanize these great artists and give us insight into how spontaneous their creativity could be. Like the proverbial red-headed stepchild, I will continue to dote on Cahoots as a favorite of mine.

What a magic band. Cahoots may have been there last great one but it oozes the legendary Band talents. Much different from Pink, The Band or Stage Fright...a new era that sadly didn't continue

Brings back a lot of memories when The Band was at the top of their game. The concert in Paris shows they were primarily a live band. Cahoots was not their best music but certainly good.
